A brief history of the web

When the World Wide Web started code its 'coding language' was only HTML. Emphasis on only as HTML is still very much used, but with other tools (more on this shortly). In order to lay content out 'invisible' tables were used to make pages more user friendly. It was clunky, and the main aim of websites was to provide information only.

'Web 2.0' came along and introduced 2 other tools. One was Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) and JavaScript. This separated out HTML as 'content' and CSS as a tool to design how a website looks. JavaScript added functionality. Web 2.0 was more about end user experience and how they can interconnect instead of just being about content. Think social media sites etc.

There are a lot of things I have glossed over here as there is way more, databases, PHP, etc but this is being put here until I have time to give a more detail. It works for now... (please contact me if anyone wants to do this content for me, cheers)

Crypto

In information technology you can encode information in a way that only one solution will unlock that content. Finding this one solution is very difficult.

This means that the information can be anything. Not just personal information but also, say, money... or Bitcoin.

Decentralisation is the idea that this 'money' or Bitcoin isnt stored in one place like on a banks database, for instance, but is distributed through a network of nodes (on the internet) so no one person has central control over is.

See the next section specifically on this for more information.

Web 3

Web 3 brings these 2 concepts together. This means you can interact with the web and other people in a way not possible before. Send funds/NFT's direct to one another, own your avatars or art and use them where and when you like.

Video

The video below gives a good overview. The points at the end are valid points too. There will be a section up for security in due course and pages to address some of the other points made.
